Cyber Intelligence Advisor
Sean Plankey is the Global Cyber Intelligence Advisor for BP plc, the  12th largest  company  in  the  world and  a  world leader  in  energy  production.  In this role he leads the evaluation of threat intelligence to correlate cyber intelligence with geopolitical issues, informing BP’s risk positions  globally.  Prior to joining BP he served  as  the Deputy  CIO  for  U.S. Navy Intelligence where he provided vision and  governance over the Maritime Domain Awareness and Mission Systems portfolios.
Sean served 13 years as an officer  in the U.S. Coast Guard, including  a  tour as  the Offensive  Weapons  & Tactics Chief at  US  Cyber  Command.  In  2013-2014  he  completed  a  joint multinational  deployment  to Afghanistan  to  conduct  cyber operations where upon return he was recognized by the President of the United States at the White House  on  the 4th of July.  He was  the  first U.S. Coast Guard Officer deployed  to  Afghanistan  to conduct offensive cyber operations.
In  addition to his work in cyber security, Sean served four years  as  Operations  officer and Law Enforcement Boarding Team Leader for two different Coast Guard Cutters on the Great Lakes and Bering Sea. He is a graduate of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy and four year varsity football athlete, as  well as a University of Pennsylvania graduate and Wharton Rugby athlete. Sean holds multiple certifications including  CISSP and ITIL Expert. He also serves as a Co-Founder of the Fran Crippen Elevation Foundation, helping elite swimmers work their  dreams to excel in sport and is a board member on the Center for International Maritime Security (CIMSEC)
